Wieland Schönfelder’s productions are inscribed in a complex that includes digital animation, sculpture, dramaturgy, and installation. Protagonists of this solo show are three scenes of theatrical dialogue, which have taken shape in 3-D modeling, sculpture, and writing, turning the exhibition into a staging process.
Schoenfelder’s work manifests a constant confrontation of the boundaries between theatre and visual arts, whose aesthetics and social history he freely and anachronistically explores. His creations, rendered in sculptural groups, images, and video, appear as weird, overtly staged worlds, within which are often concealed biographical motifs and critical reflections. The very choice of dialogue, linked to the original structure of theatre and becoming a genre with philosophical and scientific literature, appears to take advantage of such potential. DIALOG is the first exhibition in Italy by Wieland Schönfelder, with whom Condylura has collaborated in 2021 for the second publication of its publishing series.
