Studio Mondial opens
the first and last exhibition of an imaginary Kunsthaus at Kurfürstendamm,
which will unfold in several acts over the summer in and around the former
Hotel Mondial at Kurfürstendamm 47 in Berlin.
The multifaceted program will be inspired by the history and flair of the
boulevard, transforming the house into a meeting place and playground for
artistic experiments that offer a temporary venue for cultural and social
interaction beyond commercial interests.
The field of action of the exhibition will also include the public space and
the Kurfürstendamm, where the project will be expanded through interventions
and performances. As a cuckoo’s egg, the program intends to initiate a
discussion about the cultural reorientation of the boulevard.
What role does art play on Ku’damm and why can’t the richest boulevard in
Berlin afford an art house? How have pandemic, war and inflation changed the
area? And how can we use the new situation for art and culture?
“Everyone is hollow enough to find an echo in himself,” says the lyricist
Kurt Bauchwitz, who wrote poetry and played music with Albert Einstein in the
former Gründerhaus on the same site. The current programme is based on a series
of situational solo presentations at Studio Mondial and the public space of
Kurfürstendamm.
Studio Mondial is an initiative of Lutz Henke and Vlado Velkov.
The program is kindly supported by BEOS AG.#
