Nina Beier, Simon Dybbroe Møller, Kirsten Ortwed
9.8. – 14.9.2025
Opening Saturday August 9 from 14 – 17 h
SOL is pleased to present: BEIER, MØLLER, ORTWED, an exhibition that frames a meeting between three diachronic artworks, three established artistic positions, three new friends. What conversation might unfold between a bulging membrane containing indistinct detritus, a supple baby looking through iron bars and a collapsed figure with a stick up the ass? Come and see Nina Beier’s Baby (2018), Simon Dybbroe Møller’s Baby I (2023) and Kirsten Ortwed’s Untitled (1985).
Nina Beier was born in Aarhus. She studied Film at the University of Copenhagen and Photography at the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture and Design. In 2002, Beier moved to London to study at the Royal College of Art. Kirsten Ortwed was born in Copenhagen and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1972 to 75. She moved to Cologne in 1982. Between 1996 and 2020 she worked both in Pietrasanta, Italy and the Rheinland. Simon Dybbroe Møller grew up in rural Mols. He moved to Düsseldorf in 1999 to study at the Kunstakademie and finished his studies at Städelschule in Frankfurt in 2005. In 2008 Beier moved from London to Berlin, where she met Møller. In 2022 Beier, Møller and Ortwed had all returned to Denmark and now work side by side in a studio at Jernbanebyen in Copenhagen.
The exhibition can be visited Thursday-Friday 14-17h and Saturday-Sunday 12-15h or by appointment
The exhibition is supported by the Danish Art Foundation, The New Carlsberg Foundation, The Obel Family Foundation, The Augustinus Foundation, The Municipality of Bornholm and The Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansens Foundation
