In The Studio #209 Theodor Nymark

BIO:

Theodor Nymark (b. 1997, Copenhagen) is a Danish artist working across sculpture, film, photography and installation. His recent practice draws on local archives of urban history, reconfiguring their materials and narratives through new work and questions of urban politics. In recent years, he has employed anatomical terminology to diagnose the city as a sick body, while examining how environments leave traces in objects through an increasing interest in industrial landscapes and spiritual history. He holds an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2024).

Alongside his studio practice, Nymark works with exhibition-making and publishing and has since 2017 founded and directed Salon 75, an exhibition space in Copenhagen with an international programme. Through this work, his interest in authorship, production and ownership extends into the exhibition itself, understood as a temporary architecture shaped by objects, loans, spatial gestures, social relations and modes of display. Salon 75 has developed exhibitions and collaborative projects across Copenhagen, New York, Prague, Moscow, Basel, The Hague and Brescia.

Selected solo and group exhibitions include Woonhuis (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Pachinko (Oslo, Norway), Stadtmuseum Bruneck (Brunico, Italy), Hectare Gallery (Tokyo, Japan), Nivaagaard’s Collection (Nivå, Denmark), AAAA Nordhavn (Copenhagen, Denmark), RAINRAIN Gallery (New York, USA), Servando Gallery (Havana, Cuba), Kerka Gallery (St. Petersburg, Russia), Magma Maria (Offenbach, Germany), Deutsche Film Institut (Düsseldorf, Germany), Zirka.Space (Munich, Germany), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), the International Biennale of Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Partara Gallery (Tbilisi).
