From the 5th to the 20th of December, the contemporary art space State Of based in Milan, opens for the first time to the public with the collective exhibition Estate, Autunno (EN: Summer, Fall).
The exhibition Estate, Autunno has been developed throught the cooperation of the artists Pietro Ballero, Jacopo Belloni, Paolo Bufalini, Giovanni Chiamenti, Davide La Montagna, Nicola Lorini, Matilde Sambo, Patrizia Emma Scialpi, Davide Sgambaro, Marta Spagnoli, Gabriel Stöckli e Alberto Venturini, and the curators Irene Angenica, Giovanni Paolin, Giacomo Pigliapoco.
This group of artists and curators first gathered together in Cosenza, Italy, in July 2019 in the context of Bocs Art, Art Residency Project. Thanks to the Bocs Art project, the artists and curators had the chance to experience and to live in a collective working context, which eventually led them the organization of the exhibition Jumi, in Cosenza.
To the artists and curators, the Bocs Art experience meant inclusion and relatinships. By highlighting once again the importance of dialogue and of living in community, Bocs Art was the starting point to keep on working together on a new project. After the Bocs Art experience, both artists and curators felt the necessity to carry on the cooperation and to present the evolution of their works to a new public. It is in this spirit that the exhibition Estate, Autunno takes its form.
As the second chapter of the Bocs Art collective experience, Estate, Autunno brings together the same group of artists and curators in Milan to carry on the project started in July 2019 in Cosenza. To realize the exhibition, the curators focused on the process of production and development of the art works. This approach promoted a deep reflection on the role of hospitality and interpersonal exchange in the art production and exposition process. As these considerations constitute the basis for the exhibition itself, there was no other intention to provide the artists with a common theme they had to stick to when realizing their works.
The title of the exhibition Estate, Autunno (Summer, Fall) is also inspired to the world of fashion and collections and it is related to the State Of project, hosted by Aretè showroom.
Along with the art exposition, the artists and curators bring the joviality and conviviality of the Bocs Art experience in Milan, by organizing several public programs including talks, performances and panel discussions. These debates and events provide the public with an insight into the activity of the group members as well as into contemporary art in Italy.
