Since 2019, DucatoPrize has been dedicated to supporting artists whose practices spark critical reflection on the most crucial and significant aspects of the present. This year, DucatoPrize launches a new open call.
Artists and collectives of all ages and nationalities are invited to apply for one of the prize’s two categories: Contemporary, open to all artists and collectives; and Academy, open to students enrolled in public or private academies and institutes. Applicants may submit a single artwork, exclusively owned by the artist and available for exhibition, without restrictions on technique or subject matter.
DucatoPrize welcomes all forms of visual expression, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, installation, video, performance, sound, and photography.
The prize will award 10,000 EUR for the Contemporary category and 1,000 EUR for the Academy category. Moreover, a selection of artists will be invited to participate in artist residencies in Italy and abroad. Further details will be announced soon.
The preselection process will be conducted by a curatorial committee composed of Mistura Allison, Caroline Ellen Liou, Ángels Miralda, Amantia Peza, and Saverio Verini. This group will support the final jury in selecting the artists who will take part in the exhibition in September 2025.
DP25 also introduces a new international jury, featuring: Andrea Lissoni (Artistic Director, Haus der Kunst, Munich); Adrian Piper (artist); Danai Giannoglou (co-founder and curator of Enterprise Projects, Athens); Emanuela Campoli (founder of Emanuela Campoli Gallery, Paris and Milan); Samuel Leuenberger (curator and founder of SALTS, Basel).
A non-refundable application fee is required for each submission:
€50 for the Contemporary category (per artist or collective)
€25 for the Academy category (per artist or collective)
The deadline to apply is Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 12pm (Rome time, GMT+1). Discover how to apply and the conditions on our website or at the following link.
The ten selected works will be exhibited at Palazzo Farnese, Piacenza, from September 20 to November 9, 2025, with a display designed by Fosbury Architecture. The winners will be announced during the exhibition opening on September 20.
